How MCX Works
Commodity derivative markets provide a platform where participants can buy and sell contracts based on underlying commodities. Unlike direct ownership of physical commodities, exchange-traded derivative contracts operate according to defined contract specifications.
Futures contracts represent an agreement between buyers and sellers involving a specified quantity and price framework for a future settlement date. Contract specifications, margin requirements, expiry and settlement conditions should be understood before trading.
Lot Size & Tick Size
- Lot Size: Each commodity contract has a defined quantity or contract size.
- Tick Size: Tick size represents the minimum permitted price movement of a contract.
- Contract Value: The lot size and quoted price together influence the overall contract value.
- Profit & Loss: Even small price movements can have a meaningful impact depending on the contract size and position.
